It was my birthday last week. So I did a weigh-in. I
don't usually stand on a scale on a regular basis,
just once a year. And this year I weigh 161kgs. Now
I'm no longer just bigger than a
fridge, I am also a lot heavier than one!
So I spent the first couple of hours of my birthday
in the gym to sort of lose a few milligrams. Then
Sheila and I went to
Manly. I always like going to Manly Beach,
especially during hot summer days.
Last week it was quite windy. Sand was being blown
everywhere, but other than that the weather was
perfect! And because it was the middle of the week
there wasn't a lot of people and that's good.
It's a really good feeling to walk on water soaked
sand. I like it a lot! And it's also nice to just
stare at the sky and the horizon. It's very
relaxing.
And just before we left Manly I had my favorite:
Chicken Kebab with the Lot! For me, this Kebab shop is one of the
best in Sydney. After scoffing it all down I guess I
probably gained another kilogram!
Then we took the ferry back to the city. And when we
got to Circular Quay there was a huge commotion. We
saw people walking with heaps of bananas... all
from this mountain of bananas! I'm sure the thing
was packed with bananas earlier, but by the time we
got there 75% of the bananas were gone already gone.
Did I say bananas?!
But that's just fine. Sheila and I managed to score
about a dozen large, ripe, delicious bananas! And we
had a laugh while trying to shamelessly squeeze
through the crowd to get even more bananas. And it's
all thanks to
Donkey Kong!
It's a really effective marketing ploy. It got
everyone's attention. Everyone got to watch two guys
play the new Donkey Kong game while munching on
free, yummy bananas! Everyone loved it! ...maybe
except for the guys who have to clean up the mess
afterwards!
