Metro City Food Court

6:37pm Friday 10 December 2010 Sydney (gmt+10)

On the 8th of October, after looking around the electronics and other stuff on sale at Metro City Mall in Shanghai, we went to the top floor for lunch. I was expecting a usual, plain, run-of-the-mill food court. But to my surprise the Metro City Food Court's decor and set up is more inviting, more homely, and more about food than most expensive restaurants in Sydney.

The selection of food that they have are amazing. Of course it's mostly Chinese cuisine, but there's a huge variety. No two shops are the same. Each sells their own unique type of Chinese and other Asian cuisine. The produce are also very fresh, and almost all will cook your meal as you order.

The portion size of the food sold here are huge. It's big enough for me not to have to buy seconds. And they are very cheap. For 18 RMB (or less than $3) I was able to have an Overlord Crispy Chicken. And the name did not disappoint. It was indeed massive!

It's kind'a like Chicken Schnitzel, but made with a different flour and the chicken itself has been marinated in different spices. The result is a large, flat, crumbed and very crispy, very flavorsome chicken. Yum!

Sheila ordered Stir Fry. And you get to choose from dozens of ingredients, and it came in a really large bowl. I tried some of it and you can really taste the freshness, and the flavor is nothing like what you'd get in a food court anywhere in Sydney. I'm just so amazed with the food. And to top it off we also had dessert. A big bowl of Shaved Ice with Beans, Fruits, Corn, Jelly, Syrup and topped with Caramel Custard. Delicious!
