On Friday, the 17th of September, I walked into the
George Street Venue's kitchen wearing my
LFC Jersey. I always wear it whenever I have a
big day ahead. It would turn out to be one of the
best Friday lunches ever in the history of that
venue! |
The highest selling item for that day was the
Gourmet Beef Pie. Probably because of the still
unusually cooler temperature. Regina cuts the Puff
pastry, and Ricky seals the pie and places it in the
oven. And Rob takes it out when it's ready and
plates it up with fries. It's a team effort.
Coolness! |
And of course being as busy as it was there were no
shortage of drama. Like food that's unaccounted for,
which most of the time is because they did not
appear on the docket at all, or ended up on the
wrong table. |
I try to get it sorted as quickly as possible, but
of course it still meant losing precious time
because Rob and I had to stop what we're doing and
talk (and sometimes argue) and figure things out.
It's good to know that Bruce is looking after
everything that's happening on the floor so
eventually everything falls into place. |
The pastas look really good! And so do the King
Prawns with Light Lemon Curry Sauce and Rice. And
almost every other table had at least one Salt and
Pepper Calamari as an entree. |
Rob was slugging it out on the grill. Majority of
the main course were steaks. He did not look too
happy. Hehehe! |
I really like the way he presents his steaks. He
puts a garnish of Roasted Onions on top. He really
knows how to put the *Wow Factor* on a plate! |
The Kobe Rump and the New York on the Bone were very
Popular. And so too was the Eye Fillet. The Roasted
Chat Potatoes were fantastic! |
Ricky, Regina and Rob (The Three R's!) all work in
perfect harmony with each other. It's amazing how
fast they can get things out and how streamlined
lunch service was when all three of them are
working. |
But after clearing a whole bunch of orders there
were still more orders to do! Usually on Fridays,
from 2pm onwards we get a lot of orders for Nachos
and other snack items on the menu. They're probably
the customers who finished work for the week and are
starting to drink. |
But still a lot have a three course meal, and
another popular entree item is the Beetroot Tartlet
with Roasted Red Peppers, Parmesan, Camembert,
Sundried Tomato Tapenade, Rocket Leaves and Balsamic
Glaze. Nice! |
Finally by 3pm the last of the big tables have
ordered and received their meals, and most of the
other tables were going back to their offices. And
everyone in the kitchen could breathe a sigh of
relief! Whew! |
And Bruce walks into the kitchen and takes a picture
of everyone. I'm not sure if he's got a blog, but
he's got a big collection of photo and he likes to
show them to everyone. |
And Desiree told us that all is good in the
restaurant, no major issues. Part of the reason is
because she did a wonderful job during service. And
as soon as the stoves became available Ricky started
cooking Bulgogi for our lunch. |
Ricky's got a real talent with food, and because
he's Korean he knows Korean Food really well. The
Bulgogi that he made was very tasty! It's a lot
better than what I had at
Seoul-Ria, and they make a pretty darn good
Bulgogi! Yummy!!! |
Friday, the 17th of September was also Ricky's last
shift with us. He was offered a position at
The Manly Pavilion, which is one of the best
restaurants in Sydney. We wish him all the best and
we will all miss him a lot! And as for the rest of
us... it's ONE WEEK TO GO! -hohoho! :) |
