Every Friday afternoon I go to the George Street
Venue just to check up on things, if everything's
okay and just to touch base with the guys in the
kitchen. When I got there Rob and Ricky were already
busy. And the Restaurant Manager was in the kitchen
because they were trying to sort some kind of
confusion with the orders.
I didn't get myself involved. I'm sure they're more
than capable of sorting things out. Plus sticking my
nose in might just complicate things a bit more. So
while they were busy talking I grabbed a 350gm Rib
Eye and put it on the grill. After that
Smoked
Salmon Salad I just felt like having something
MEATY!
I grilled it medium-rare, and poured mushroom sauce
over it. And the chunky mushrooms in the sauce
tasted so good. The steak was so soft that
eventually I stopped using the knife and fork and
just ate it with my fingers, like a popsicle.
Yummy!!!
When I got back to the Waterfront Venue I saw the
dockets reaching down to the floor. And they just
kept spitting out of the printer. It was quite busy.
But I had a surprise when
Jan and
Ricky suddenly turned up. Apparently they were
ringing me, but because it was busy I didn't hear my
phone. We all go a long way back and it's always
good to see them! They were having a night out but I
couldn't go with them 'coz we were still very busy.
The best seller for the night has got to be the
Seafood Special, which is the Baked Snapper Fillet
on Mash with Cherry Tomato, Coriander and Roasted
Pepper Salsa, with a drizzle of Balsamic Glaze. By
9:30pm we were already sold out. Nice!
Eventually we got through it, thanks to Jackie and
Simon. We didn't have any issues whatsoever. But it
was a lot of hard work. And just before we closed
the kitchen Simon asked for a steak. But
unfortunately by that time all the ramekins were
dirty and were still in the wash-up area. So I had
to put his pepper sauce in a coffee cup. And when he
saw it he gave me that look. Oh well. Hehehe!
