Viviane, or Vivi as we call her, doesn't really work
in the restaurant. She's usually at the reception
desk. But she said it gets to boring and too cold
over there so she comes to the kitchen every now and
then to talk with us and warm up. She's finished
work and I think she's heading to Melbourne.
Even when we're busy we really don't mind her being
around. And the other guys in the kitchen think
she's cute. She's a sort of mascot and a
welcome distraction for us.
The Osso Bucco's part of the new menu. It's a
typical cold weather dish, and it's good to have it
on by Autumn. It's quite easy to make. Seal them,
throw them into a big stainless steel container with
vegies and red wine, and braise them for 2 hours or
so. And then they're ready!
A week before the Autumn menu started I was trialing
the recipe and it came out okay so I gave the sample
to Vivi. And she said it was okay but it needed a
bit more salt. Um... but of course. Hehehe!
And after she finished her last shift she came into
the kitchen and she started taking pictures of
everybody. I made her a special tenderloin steak and
she took heaps of photos of it. I think Arvi wanted
to try some of it too. Hehehe! And of course, we
gave her dessert afterwards. It wouldn't be complete
without dessert! We'll all miss Vivi!
