It started out as a cold and wet morning. So it was
a bit quiet and the girls downstairs had plenty of
time to plan their weekend. I think. Hehehe!
Meanwhile, the girls upstairs were busy setting up
the restaurant for the cocktail function. We were
quite busy in the kitchen too... and it only took 5
minutes for Rob (who just came back from his days
off) to cut a bit of his thumb off! Oh no! And as he
struggled to get his work done Jana was being...
well... anything but compassionate. Hehehe!
Randy came for a visit. He finished work a few days
earlier and was bound for Melbourne. It was good for
him to drop in. And once we got most of the stuff
organized I went along with Rob and Stan who both
had a smoke. At that stage we were just waiting for
the guests to arrive before we put everything
together.
Then after sunset the guests started arriving. And
it was all out production mode in the kitchen.
Canapés are a bit tedious to put together, and it's
always good to have an extra pair of hands so we got
Pepi and Ash to help us out!
But once we got the canapés plated up it was
all just a matter of taking them out onto the
function area. Vivi and Jana and the other girls
took care of that. And as they took the canapes
around the guests, we still needed to make heaps
more to replenish the platters. And at the same time
we had to get the hot items ready.
We made for the function Moroccan Skewered Chicken
and for something different they also had Fish and
Chips and Stir Fried Noodles inside tiny Chinese
Take Away boxes. All in all it was a great night.
And the girls were all full halfway through the
cocktail function because they were trying out the
left over stuff. Nice! :)
