On the weekend on my way home I saw Agam and Greg on
the train station. Given the fact that I could smell
them a fair distance away means that they've been
drinking. I really wish I could go and have a few
rounds with them but I still had work to do. But by
mid afternoon yesterday I was officially on my day
off. Woohoo! So I took my wife to sushi. |

As far as I'm concerned there are two kinds of sushi
restaurants: The "Mass Consumption - Eat All You
Can" Sushi restaurants, and the "Preen and Proper"
Sushi restaurants. And the
Sushi Roll at World Square is on top of my
"Preen and Proper" Sushi restaurants list. The
variety is about the same as most sushi trains but
their stuff is a lot tastier, and fresher. |

The first thing that you'll notice when you walk in
is that the place is spotlessly clean. Even though
you get a 360° view of the kitchen you'd hardly see
any scrap on the benches and on the floor. And you
don't get that stale fishy odor and those annoying
fruit flies that most sushi places have. The prices
are also very good. Some crappy sushi restaurants
around the city are more expensive. And the best
thing is that every time we go there there are
always seats available. Its secluded location is
probably why, but I'm just glad that I don't have to
queue up. And it's never noisy so it's also a nice
place to have a chat... and eat in peace. |

After sushi I felt like having something sweet so we
went downstairs to
Breadtop. Then I saw what most people may find
disturbing. They were selling lifelike Puppy Cakes.
Geez! I guess that thing about Asians eating Dogs
has some truth to it. Hehehe! |

After a few minutes of strolling around my wife and
I felt hungry again ( I don't call my website
EATmarvin for nothing. Hehehe!) so we decided to
have our 2nd lunch at Taste of Shanghai. They have
two other branches in Sydney that I know of. One is
just 2 minutes walk from where I live, and the other
one is at Eastwood.
LL's and
StephCookie's reviews are accurate and good. The
one at World Square however hasn't had a visit from
a Food Blogger yet (as far as I know) because it is
pretty new, probably less than 3 months old - the
shop they're occupying used to be a Vietnamese
Restaurant. The furniture and decor of the place is
nice, it's clean and the general ambiance is good.
The staff were quite friendly, which is uncommon
with busy Chinese restaurants. |

It's mostly dumplings and soup in the menu. The Xiao
Long Bao was particularly good. It's a dumpling,
with a meatball and a tasty sauce inside... kind'a
like a savory
Baba Au Rum. My wife had dumpling soup and we
shared Crumbed Chicken in what looks like a
cone-shaped basket, and it was perfectly done. It
was crispy, not too oily and the chili mixed in with
the vegies gave it a really yummy aroma. And it was
also presented well. Overall I think I would go back
there to try the other items on the menu. But it's
best to show up between lunch and dinner (Like 3pm
to 5pm) because as soon as we finished dozens of
customers showed up and a lot of them had to wait
outside for a table.
Burp! |
