CNYE

10:35 Thursday 7 February 2008 Foshan (gmt+8)

Yesterday the weather was a lot better than it was the day before or on the evening when I arrived in Foshan. So I went out for a walk around the park and along the road.

In the afternoon I went to the nearby market to have a look at the stuffs that they're selling. It's very much like the sort've market that I used to go to with my mom when I was a kid. And the the lady selling the chicken was quite vocal. And I can't argue at the freshness of her produce. The chickens are still alive behind her... and she only kills and cuts them up when someone buys them. Cool... but not for the squeamish. Hehehe! :)

I looked around some more and I found a lot of interesting stuffs. I also discovered that they sell San Miguel Beer here in Foshan! Wow! Neat! :)

Later in the evening I went to Chinese New Year's Eve dinner with some of the people from work. Usually everyone is expected to go back to their provinces... but this year a lot of them got stranded in Foshan because of the severe winter  weather and snow storm. The food was great, and it's good to be in the company of people who share the same sentiment. I guess I'm also feeling the same way. I feel like I should be somewhere else... with someone else.

Because it's New Year's Eve it was near impossible to catch a cab. So I walked part of the way back to the hotel where I'm staying. It was cold... so I just walked as briskly as I could. And I just kept thinking how hot it was in Manila this time last week. Hehehe! The city looks fabulous at night... but it's not as busy as it usually is. Everyone's gone home to their family and friends. I'm different... I just started my odyssey here in China. :)
