Fresh Off The Bus

11:30am Wednesday 6 February 2008 Foshan (gmt+8)

I left Manila at 12noon on Monday. And two hours later I was in Hong Kong. But I did not spend too much time there. By 4pm I was already in a bus bound for Foshan. The trip had a few issues... like the busy breaking down and me being stuck in the immigration check point, much to the dismay of the other passengers who were in a hurry to get home for Chinese New Year. But I did make it in Foshan. It was already 10pm and it was freezing cold. Then I realized that the rooms in the hotel where I'm staying does not have centralized heating. So I just snuggled up and thought about those hot, humid days in Manila. Hehehe! Ahhh... coolness! :)

I got up at 8am and I went downstairs because I was starving. In the breakfast buffet were sauteed potatoes, spaghetti, boiled egg, chicken congee, tomatoes... and pig's blood. YUM!!! :) Then I went out for a walk. I think it was only 9°c and it was rush hour. But if you can cross the streets in Manila then Foshan shouldn't be a problem. :) ...although I did have trouble reading the street signs. I'm sure I'll figure them out eventually. :)

Then I went to the building where I'd be working. Part of it is still under construction and the kitchen is nowhere near completion. But it looks good. :)

In the evening after dinner I went out for a stroll. A few hours earlier it was a mad rush as people tried to get their last minute shopping done. But by 9pm the streets and sidewalks were almost empty. Everyone's gone home to their loved ones for Chinese New Year. How I wish I could be home with Miss SY.

Foshan is a beautiful city. There are lots of places to see, and the food is great! It's very picturesque... but from the moment I get up, 'til I fall asleep at night there's only one picture in my mind. :)
