Golden Anniversary

Sunday 8 April 2007 - 12:08 (gmt - 8 / San Francisco)

Yesterday we celebrated Gran'ma Ine and Gran'pa Dencio's Golden Wedding Anniversary. To say that it's a really special occasion is an understatement. It took months to prepare. Relatives and friends flew in from all over the world, including me from Australia. And for me personally, it is the final big event that I'll be going to before I fly back to Sydney. And it's also cool because I get to wear my suit. Hehehe!

When we got to the venue the banquet staff were busy setting up the place. The dinning room and the hallway looked really nice. And I also got the chance to see the kitchen and the dirty looks by the waitstaff and chefs meant that everything seemed to be running on schedule. Hehehe! But what's really fascinating was the poster made up of old wedding pictures of my grandparents. It's amazing how they kept them all in good condition for 50 years. Wow!

We got there at 11am and it really won't start 'til 12:30 so I went around to see and talk with everyone. From top left going clockwise: DJ's taking a photo of Gran'pa Dencio, DJ with Gran'ma Ine and Aunty Ching, then in the golf course behind the reception building there's DJ, Michael and Nick. And finally there's Aunty Dell and Pete.

I went back just before they let the guests enter the function room. Aunty Mary Anne was still busy going through the seating arrangement with Che-che and Jojo. She did most of the organizing leading up to the event and she was also the emcee during the program. She put an unbelievable amount of effort to make it all happen.

Nick and DJ and the other grandkids made speeches and then gave flowers to Gran'ma Ine and Gran'pa Dencio. Then there's Uncle Lito busily talking with guests and taking pictures. And when the dancing started Uncle Gene did his stuff. Coolness!
