The Capital

 Sunday 4 March 2007 - 23:20 (gmt - 5 / Washington DC)

Yesterday Rosey and her flatmate Lucy showed me around the National Mall. I'm glad I was with them because otherwise I'd be lost in the seemingly endless wide-open expanse of monuments, museums and historical buildings.

I took a really dorky photo of the Jefferson memorial. It shouldn't be behind trees and stuffs. I have to go back and take another shot at it. And around the area I noticed those horse mounted police. They're not just for show. I think they will tell you to move your car if you park it on the wrong spot.

Then we went to the WW2 memorial. If you turn west you can see on the other side of the Reflecting Pool the Lincoln Memorial. We didn't get a chance to see it up close so it's another spot that I have to visit again. Then there's the Washington monument. It's like an obelisk that rises all the way up the sky. It's awesome. I think I can stare at it all day and watch the clouds sail past behind it.

And of course there's the White House. As expected it is heavily guarded so I'm quite content to take a photo behind barricades. And I'm not even gonna think about getting inside for a tour. Hehehe!
