Both Lucy and Rosey had to go to
work today so I went around town on
my own. It's fun exploring a new
city... especially when you realize
that your bus stops directly in
front of the
Pentagon. Hehehe! Cool!

I can take a picture of the bus, or
any other thing pointing away from
the building. But once I point the
camera unto the Pentagon itself,
which is just 10 or so meters from
where I was standing, one of the
military guards will tell me to
stop. Down below however, inside the
subway station, I can take as many
pictures as I want. The underground
stations here in DC are mesmerizing.

I got off at
Union Station. It looks really
nice inside. Good thing I wasn't
anywhere near it on
Saturday when someone got shot.

A few minutes walk is the
US Capitol. It's a lot larger
than what I imagine it to be. And in
front of it is
Ulysses S. Grant's statue.

My next stop was the
National Air and Space Museum.
There were heaps of stuffs to see. I
spent the entire afternoon looking
around the aircrafts and rockets. I
saw the actual
Apollo 11 space module and I was
even able to touch a piece of the
moon. Oh wow!

I passed by the
Korean War Memorial and there
really wasn't much other than a
dozen or so statues. But the amazing
thing is that in the sunset they
look like real soldiers.

One good thing about traveling in
winter is that there's not a lot of
other tourists. Even so, the
Lincoln Memorial still had
plenty of visitors. I think I spent
more time in the lower level reading
about his life and watching videos
rather than staying in the main hall
where busloads of visitors where
flocking. I guess he rightfully
deserve such prominence because he
kept the Union from falling apart,
together with Grant of course. The
nation owes much of its prosperity
to him.
