Springtime

Saturday 16 September 2006 - 23:17 [gmt+10]

It's definitely springtime! It's sunny and not cold anymore. Yesterday I had a steak with heaps of chips and mush sauce. I'm bad!
I'm reading a new book at work with what little free time I have. FCB finally printed my name right. I also received an "Away" kit. :)
Ah, yeah... you'll know it's springtime when flies find their way into the kitchen. Geez!!!

Springtime

If you live in the northern hemisphere you'd probably think it's odd... but it is springtime in Australia. I know a lot of people hate the cold. Well... I think pretty much everyone I know hates it. I don't. Not that much. There were days during winter when the weather was just too nasty, but I'd prefer the colder season than the warmer ones.

Springtime isn't so bad. But probably by December it wouldn't be so pleasant for me because that is when the weather becomes too hot.

But one thing I don't like about springtime are the flies. I know it's a lot worse during summer, but for some reason as soon as the cold season is over flies manage to find their way into the kitchen. My guess is that during winter they sleep in little secret spots in and around the building. Probably inside those stinking shoes in the staff locker room. Ewww! I just wish they'd stay out. They're really annoying!!!

I'm reading a new book at work. It's The Peloponnesian War by Donald Kagan. I don't really have a lot of spare time in the kitchen, but if it is a bit quiet then I try to read a few pages because it's really relaxing. I enjoy reading non-fiction books, especially the ones about significant events in history. And I like the way the book was written because it's laid out as a story rather than a boring high school textbook. It's about the war between the Spartan League and the Athenian Empire. Sort've like the movie Troy... but the plot is a lot thicker and most importantly it did happen.

I also received a replacement kit from Barcelona. Remember last time I had to send back my FCB kit because they misspelled my name. Well, they sorted it out and they also sent me an "Away" kit which is really cool! :)

I'm still full from yesterday's lunch. I had a rump with lots of chips and lots of mushroom sauce. I know it's not very healthy, but once in a while isn't bad... and yesterday was that once in a while. Hehehe!
