Like Pulling Teeth?

This morning I went to see my dentist. I needed to sort out a nagging problem with my teeth. The tranquil facade of the waiting room is the complete opposite of what happened inside. Hehehe!
While I was there I might as well have both left wisdom teeth removed. If you have a laptop with a 15" screen then that's their actual size. Some of you will hate me for posting this image. Hahaha!

Like Pulling Teeth?

Tuesday 21 March 2006 - 12:58 [gmt+10]

Today I had both my left wisdom teeth removed. Like Suze, I've been having problems with them, particularly the one on the bottom. As you can see on the image above there's a little chunk missing. It does happen, the fact that wisdom teeth pop out in the most awkward part of your gum-line doesn't really help. And my recent addiction to Mortal Sin has a lot to do with their painful demise. It's Kat Mayo's fault because she got me hooked! Hahaha!

Going to the dentist doesn't really freak me out. Even the sinister looking steel syringe that they use to inject anesthesia doesn't intimidate me, though the pain that goes with it is something that I don't look forward to. What I dread more is having to stay up all night and not being able to do any serious work the next day because of a nagging toothache. Make no mistake, sitting on that chair and having my wisdom teeth removed is not an easy thing to do but it's the lesser of two evils.

Notice the part of the wisdom teeth that's imbedded. They look like hooks... the one on top has three little ones and it looks like a tripod, while the one on the bottom has two big ones with slightly bent tips. The hooks on the top one are so sharp that you can use it as a weapon. It's probably why it took so long to pull them out and why there was so much blood.

As far as I'm concerned I was just lying there with my mouth wide open while the dentist and his assistant tried to wrestle both freakin' things out. I mean, it wasn't comfortable but they were the ones who were having a hard time. I find it amusing actually, especially the part where the suction tip came off and all of the sudden blood splattered all over his uniform. Hahaha! Then I realized it was my blood. Eww!

And the sound... the sound of the actual extraction. It's similar to the cracking and crunching sound when you dismember a roast chicken. Hehehe!

When it was finished and I had the chance to sit up and look around I saw blood on the floor, more on the dentist's uniform and his tools looked like a butcher's in an abattoir. And I just sat there with a big, fat smile on my face. Hehehe! - it must be the anesthesia!

Anyway I will go back next week just to check if it healed properly. Coolness! :)

Added Bit - Tuesday 21 March 2006 - 21:03 [gmt+10]

...Kat Mayo asked if I get to eat lots and lots of ice cream after my wisdom teeth were extracted. Yes, that's true! Not only does the cold numb the pain after the effects of the anesthesia has passed but ice cream like most dairy products has a lot of protein which helps in the healing process. And also because I have to sit upright for the entire day and not lie in bed I kept myself occupied by playing Total War.

So I'm pretty much just stuffing ice cream in my mouth and playing video games all day. Hehehe! How cool is that?!
