When In Rome

Sunday 29 January 2006 - 19:50 [gmt+10]

Yesterday, I was meeting Jan at Paddy's but I was an hour early so I ordered a Beef and Guinness Pie.

A Chinese guy sitting next to me said it looks like dog food. I don't care 'coz it tastes great. Yum!
When Jan finally showed up we had a round of Guinness. I like the way they "carve" the clover on top. It's creamy with caramel-ish taste. After finishing the Guinness we tried the Golden Ale. It was very refreshing and light, and had a rosewater-like scent. Neat!

Then we went to this nearby Korean restaurant where Jan ordered a Ginseng Chicken Soup. They normally serve the chicken whole. And because it's not fine dining you have to cut it yourself.

I, on the other hand, asked nicely for a Bimbimbap and they gave me heaps of extra Kimchi to go with it! And dining at a Korean restaurant isn't complete without Soju! It's 48 proof so take it easy! Hehehe!

Afterwards we went to the Bavarian Bier Café where I got us half-litre glasses of Weisse Dunkel. ...and every time I go there I make sure I order their Munich Style Club Sandwich! Mmm... perfect!
Yes... 500ml glasses! And we had a few rounds. They're very smooth as expected.(ie 1516 Purity Law) And another round, just before we hop to another bar a few blocks away. Gulp... gulp... gulp...

Proof that we weren't intoxicated yet was the fact that we made it to the Belgian Beer Cafe without hitting a lamppost. hehehe! Jan got us the White Beer and the Kriek. And I ordered a big pot of Provencial Mussels and a bowl of chips with mayonnaise of course!
I also couldn't resist ordering their Veal, Pork and Pistacio Sausages on Mashed Potato with Sauerkraut and Red-Wine Jus. Droool! :P Hours later they switched off the music and turned up the lights. I think they're about to close so one more for the road! Coolness!

...and as soon as I got home this morning I passed out. When I woke up hours later I had a really bad hangover. But it was all fun! Hehehe!
