Shiny Little Things

Synchronizing two laptops via infrared takes ages! Someone forgot to cover the plain and garlic butter. Uh oh!

I bought these little stainless steel jugs on Saturday and soaked them overnight. The stickers came off easily and they became so shiny that they almost look like they're silver.
The bain-marie's acting up so I decided to make room on the flat grill instead. It's a band-aid solution but it manages to keep the sauces above the safe temperature.

Shiny Little Things

I took my work laptop home because I needed to transfer a lot of files. Usually I just load the files into my tempura prawn usb-drive then plug it into my other laptop, but I couldn't find the darn thing! I spent an hour or so looking inside my bags and there's no sign of it. Geez... I think I must have served it during lunch with the Seafood Basket. Hehehe!

I could've e-mailed the files to myself but I didn't have internet access at work. When I got home I realized that I left my usb cable at work! Oh crap! Thank goodness both laptop has a built in infrared module so that's how I transferred the files. It took about 3 hours for the files to go through. Reminds me of what it was like 12 years ago when you save a 10kb file into a floppy disc. Geez!!!

This morning I straight away noticed that the plain and garlic butter tubs were left uncovered. Luckily they were not rancid. Whew! Stuffs like that makes me worry because food items shouldn't be left overnight without a proper cover.

Remember on Saturday I went shopping... and among the stuffs that I picked up from the Hospitality Showroom were the little stainless steel jugs. Of course they came straight from the factory so I had to soak them overnight. I soaked them in soap water with a cup of white vinegar. The stickers peel off easily the next day and the soap water and vinegar also eats up all the impurities on the surface so they come out really shiny. They're so shiny that everybody thought they were made of silver. Hehehe!

Also today the bain-marie was acting up. It's one of the most important equipments in the kitchen because it keeps the sauces hot. The next best thing is to set up a makeshift bain-marie on the flat grill and that's what I did. It works... it keeps the sauces above 70°c, but the thing is that it occupies 1/3 of the flat grill's surface. It's just a band-aid solution, but I can pretty much work around it. A lot better than having cold sauces! :)
