It's my last day at work. The funny thing is that
I've worked in places where I absolutely hated the
people I work with and the place itself and yet I
hung around. Here, I love everybody that I work
with, I love what I'm doing... but I have to walk
away from it all... at least for the moment. It's a
bit sad.
But I was feeling kind'a surreal yesterday...
because it was my last day at work. I was busy...
but I was looking at things twice, to sort of soak
up the whole experience. And I just took lots of
pictures of everybody (Karl, Stacey, Mal and
Darren.) regardless of how busy I was. Then I gave
Mal some of my tools and a knife... it's always been
tradition with the other chefs that I worked with to
give something to an apprentice, to sort of
symbolize the passing of knowledge, well something
like that. A lot of my knives came from people who
trained me and I want to do the same for Mal because
I know someday he'll make it big.
Stacey gave me a farewell card with everybody's
wishes. It's design is funny... She said I'm the big
dog and she's the little puppy. It was really nice
of her. :) By 10:45pm... after we cleaned the
kitchen and just before we went downstairs for a few
drinks I had one last good look at everything. Then
I bid everybody farewell... I turned around and
walked out of that kitchen...
perhaps for the last time.
